Douglas Trezise papers.

The collection contains the papers of State Representative Douglas Trezise of Michigan, and is arranged in four series. The first series, correspondence (1971-74), consists of letters to and from Trezise. The second series, publicity (1971-74), contains news releases, newsletters, political brochures, questionnaires, and Trezise's statements concerning his reasons for voting against legislation. The third series, speeches (1970-74), contains the speeches he made while serving as a representative. The fourth series, subject files (1971-74), contains files on legislation and issues that were important to Trezise and his constituents, including land use, pornography, agriculture, and the use of gill nets in Great Lakes fishing.

Douglas Trezise was vorn in ironwood, Mich. in 1925. After 3 1/2 years of military service during W.W. II, he obtained a degree in engineering from Michigan State University in 1949. A resident of Owosso, he served on the Charter Revision Commission, City Councilman, and Mayor. As a Republican, he was elected to the State House in 1970 and 1972.
